What to expect

Step one: get in touch

The first step is booking a complimentary consultation with Eric to discuss the project you have in mind.

Step two: receive your design brief

Once the booking is made, you'll be sent a a simple guide with a few questions so that Eric can better understand what you have in mind.

Step three: meet with Eric

During the consultation, you will discuss the furniture you're looking for and hear Eric's thoughts on feasibility and design options. You will have the chance to explore possible approaches, joinery options and material choices. Eric will provide you with a timeline estimate and price range for the project.

Step four: design development

If you decide you'd like to proceed, Eric will begin on preliminary drawings upon the payment of a $250 design fee which will be credited toward the final project cost. These drawings will outline construction details, joinery, and proportions and allow an exact project cost to be calculated. The typical turnaround time for initial drawings is 1–2 weeks.

Step five: refine and finalise the design

Once you review the initial design, Eric will work with you to hone it to your taste. This phase is collaborative and may include revising drawings to perfect proportions and details as well as choosing from a selection of hard-wax finished wood samples so you can see the grain, colour, and character of the materials. The project quote will be updated to reflect requested changes.

The goal is for you to have a tangible, clear vision of the finished piece before it gets built. This phase usually takes about 1–3 weeks, depending on the complexity of your project.

Step six: deposit and production

To begin the production phase, you will be asked to pay a 50% deposit which will book dedicated time in Eric's shop for your piece. Lead time is typically 6–10 weeks, depending on the project. The balance will be due upon completion of the project.

Step seven: delivery and care

When your piece is ready, shipping or delivery and installation will be coordinated. Eric will provide detailed care instructions so your furniture stays beautiful for generations. He will follow up a few weeks after you receive your piece to answer any questions that you have.
