All pieces are built and designed to be as durable and strong as possible, yet all materials have the possibility of defect, and all building methods have room for error. All products are warrantied to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of five years. During this period Gesinger Furniture will repair or replace free of charge any merchandise which exhibits defects.

The warranty covers reasonable use of products. It does not cover: 

• Damage caused by cleaning products or abrasives
• Damage caused by significant changes in humidity outside the normal range of a lived in house
• Damage caused by accident or misuse. (Although not covered by warranty, Gesinger Furniture is happy to provide repairs at a reasonable rate)
• Normal wear and tear.

Please note:

• Finishes can change in appearance with use. 
• Wood changes in colour and appearance as it ages and interacts with light. 

Some species of woods or special pieces, such as large slabs, are subject to some limitations. These will be covered in the design process if these materials are selected.

• Garry oak can develop small cracks. Anything less than 2mm will not be considered a defect, but can be replaced or repaired by filling or patching, at the discretion of Gesinger Furniture, especially if it is a food contacting surface where cleanability is imperative.
• Arbutus is subject to more than average movement. Warpage of up to 0.5% of width is not considered a defect. 
• Fir is subject to invisible checks and pitch pockets. Any checking will be addressed if it is a structural problem. Pitch will not be considered a defect. 
• Large slabs or blocks of wood can retain small amounts of moisture despite the best drying processes. These can cause occasionally cause cracks. These are not considered a defect.

General Cancellation Policy
If you would like to cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible. You will receive a full refund if your order is canceled before it enters production after which only a partial refund can be issued, the portion of which will depend on what stage of production the product has reached.

Custom Furniture Cancellations
Deposits for custom built pieces become non-refundable once production has begun. Custom items cannot be canceled or returned once they have entered production.

Finish

Unless otherwise specified, all products are finished with a hardwax oil. It is a penetrating finish and not a coating, so any damage can be repaired easily and does not require refinishing the whole piece. It is a low maintenance finish, and can be refreshed easily for those who like to keep things shiny.

If at any point you would like your piece refinished please contact us and we will make arrangements. 

Humidity

Ideally wood furniture is kept in a lived in house. Extreme fluctuations in humidity can cause damage. This should be kept in mind if storing or moving furniture. 

Sunlight

Light will gradually change the appearance of wood. Generally this gives it a richer and nicer look, but a table that is in a sunny window with a cloth covering half of it will eventually be inconsistent in colour.
